All Souls On Deck – Mail Art
Here is JDJ letterpress printing a small title strip for the new project – but not in the letterpress shop -in my happy place, my library, which has been engulfed for weeks in a massive effort – 2600 cut-outs, 1400 gluings, and a whole lot of folding and wrangling to construct a set of round tarot-type art cards that are a care package for our times.
The set comes wrapped in a “decorative” origami envelope – this is the last big use of this black and white letterpress clean-up material for a long while – I promise!
Many thanks to the artists whose work was appropriated: David Larson, Gen Coon, Leslie Pruneau, Matt Cooper, Lily Dancy-Jones and John Justice. Gratitude to and inspiration from Sebastian Matthews and Jonathan Laurer, who recently sent me beautiful card sets.

Dear John,
I don’t expect you to remember me from days in Raleigh(1980s). I am a long time friend of Katherine Myers both in Greenville and Raleigh. My husband and I live on the coast of Georgia – for almost 40 years. I have followed your talents for years – both thru Katherine and thru your Facebook, etc. I have always loved your work! I just received your latest Raleigh Rambles and wondered how I could receive some of the artwork you showed. I did subscribe at some point but have never received any of your work. Just wondered how it worked! Best to you and your family…oh, by the way my husband Jerry Merwin grew up with Bob Allison in Palatka, FL! Small world! Thanks for any info! Sincerely, Jamie G. Merwin
